Ask us about our physical penetration testing/infiltration testing service today.
Abbey Security has added a new service to its security output. Already market leaders in the region for the provision of mobile and static guarding and keyholding, we have now added physical penetration testing to our portfolio.
What is physical penetration testing in security?
Penetration testing involves identifying weaknesses in existing security measures and attempting to exploit them in ‘real-life’ scenarios.
By highlighting and exploiting these weaknesses, the security company can subsequently recommend solutions, ultimately making a site’s security more robust.
It must be noted, that these tests are not definitive. Where a pen test may be thwarted one day, the same scenario may be more successful at a different time.
However, to get an overview of the effectiveness of your security this is a method with actual physical rather than theoretical results.
Where a test is successful, the inefficiency of existing measures cannot be denied.
How does infiltration testing work?
Trained professionals, often from military or police backgrounds, attempt to manipulate weaknesses in existing security measures.
Initially, they’ll undertake reconnaissance to identify potential vulnerabilities in an organisation’s security arrangements. This could include monitoring entrances or exits, observing the behaviour of on-site security guards and locating deterrents, such as CCTV or alarms.
They’ll then plan their ‘attack’, before attempting to infiltrate secure areas, using similar techniques that criminals would use.
By carrying out these tests during working hours, the response of staff can also be gauged, highlighting areas in which they can be educated.
Following the testing, you’ll be provided with an in depth report, highlighting the type of attack and its successfulness, as well as recommendations on how to improve any vulnerabilities that were found.
What potential security weaknesses could your business face?
Security weaknesses could be caused by a number of factors, including poor physical infrastructure, staff training or simply a lack of awareness. These potential weaknesses include, but are not limited to:
- Open fire doors
- Unprotected windows or doors
- Lack of security personnel
- Ineffective CCTV and alarms
- Poorly trained staff
